We could reverse this question: why should we use new frames when over one million Dutch bicycles are thrown away each year?

Most people see broken bikes in them and thus waste. We see useful materials for our design bikes and are happy to give these materials a second chance!

Roetz uses the solid steel frames of orphan bikes, collected by various Dutch municipalities. We dismantle the entire bike in loose parts, so that we can easily recycle all components. We remove the original coating of the frames and front forks and check them carefully. Only those that fully meet our quality requirements get a new, three layered powder coating. After that they start their new life!

Bear in mind a Roetz is a new bike. We are convinced our recycled steel frames will last longer than most other new bikes, often with aluminum frames. That's also why we offer a 5 year guarantee on our frames!
